Game Night was my painting of the month, inspired by one of my favorite childhood rituals — playing Crazy Eights around the table with my family. It was simple. It was loud. It was competitive. It was ours.
This piece came to me during a nostalgic stretch — thinking about how fast life moves now. The composition captures a mid-game moment of Crazy Eights — cards fanned out, a small stack on the table, the box resting nearby. Nothing staged. Just paused in time.
The rich tabletop sets the mood — grounding, intimate, alive. In the bottom corner, a green glass catches the light, its shadow reflecting softly through it — that subtle glow adding depth and quiet romance to the scene.
The thick, expressive brushstrokes bring energy and movement to an otherwise still moment — turning a simple card game into something layered with memory. This painting is a reminder that connection doesn’t have to be elaborate. Sometimes it’s just a deck of cards, your favorite person, and a couple hours carved out of a busy life.
