Standing at the floor of the Grand Canyon, the red rock looms over you. A winding trail disappears into the landscape, a wall of rock catches the light beyond the next bend. There is a sense of curiosity in following the path and wondering what might be waiting just beyond the next turn.
I wanted to capture that feeling of being surrounded by something so much larger than yourself. Rather than simply depicting the Grand Canyon as a distant panorama, the composition places you down inside it, with the walls rising around you and the trail offering a way forward.
The warm, earthy colors and expressive brushwork emphasize the incredible variations in the canyon walls, from sunlit reds and oranges to deeper shadows tucked between the formations. The landscape becomes less about documenting a specific view and more about capturing the feeling of standing there—looking around, taking it all in, and wondering where the trail might lead.
For me, landscapes are often about more than the place itself. They hold memories of travel, discovery, and those moments when you feel completely present in your surroundings.
