Inspired by the wild parrots that fill Southern California skies with their unmistakable chatter, this month's 11x14 original painting is a celebration of untamed freedom. If you've ever lived in Southern California, you know the sound—the sudden chorus of bright green parrots flying overhead, loud, unapologetic, and impossible to ignore.

Perched atop a desert cactus, this parrot feels right at home among the thorns. To me, wild parrots symbolize resilience, individuality, and the courage to carve out a life on your own terms. They weren't always meant to be here, yet they've become part of the landscape—a reminder that sometimes the most beautiful things happen when life takes an unexpected turn.

This month's theme leans into that free-spirited desert energy: sun-warmed skin, dusty roads, wildflowers blooming after hardship, and the feeling of belonging nowhere and everywhere at once. It's for the dreamers, wanderers, artists, and old souls who find comfort in taking the scenic route.
